Hello, I am Katrina! Illustrator, designer, greyhound mum, houseplant collector, countryside rambler and all-round lover of the natural world.

My go-to illustration medium is traditional watercolour because I can add delicate details and get *really* precise with colours. As well as thoughtful illustrations, I love experimenting with lettering in a variety of fonts. (Any opportunity to use my fancy brush pens!)

Collaborations

I’ve been lucky enough to work with a variety of big brands and amazing independent business owners on a range of nature-inspired projects. My past work includes illustrations for magazines and greeting cards, pattern designs for licensing, ceramic beads for wall décor and hand-lettering for a book.

Sandwiches

I drew spot illustrations of four sandwiches for Tesco Food magazine and their social media campaigns.

Hand-lettering

Rebecca Desnos commissioned me to create several hand-lettered cover and chapter headings for her e-book (which later turned into a paperback book) about natural dyeing.

Grow

I collaborated with Brynn & Co. to create a design for an art piece that was turned into an embroidery PDF pattern, a kit and a needle minder.

Catchfly pattern

I was commissioned to design a licensed surface pattern for Nottingham Castle to create a new product range celebrating our county flower, Catchfly, which returned in 2020 after its eradication in the 1930s.

Geo-fleur card

I designed a Christmas card for geo-fleur subscribers featuring a watercolour painting with hand-lettering.

Fencing for biodiversity

I partnered with Stuart Perry, a garden designer and project manager, to have my butterfly illustrations printed onto temporary fencing to create a new flower meadow for biodiversity.

Collaboration is key, so you’ll always receive a digital sketch first to make sure you’re happy before I put brush to paper. I'm proficient in using editing software, so your high-quality illustrations will be ready for you to use straight away.

Self-initiated projects

Because I’m inspired by the joy of everyday moments, I love stretching my creative muscles by drawing all things nature whenever I can – from flowers and houseplants to insects, animals and even food!

Woodland pattern

I created a series of patterns for printing on greeting cards and notebook covers. The pattern design consists of butterflies, fungi, bluebells, oak leaves, acorns, ferns and cockchafers.

Butterfly pattern

I also created a similar series of patterns inspired by butterflies but with a floral twist – the design features colourful hollyhocks and daylilies.

Succulent

I have a big collection of houseplants (over 100!), and I *constantly* feel inspired to paint them. I love turning my favourite plants into art prints and greeting card designs.

Monstera deliciosa

I have quite a few of the same classic houseplants dotted around my house, and I love painting their interesting leaf shapes – especially the fenestrations (the splits and holes)!

Bluebell

I paint a lot of colourful flowers. I love spotting and photographing wildflowers on my daily walks – you'll often see my floral designs on greeting cards and washi tapes.

Greenhouse

I love visiting botanical gardens, especially if they have greenhouses for me to explore! I take loads of photos for inspiration to paint from when I get home.

Product and packaging designs

As well as designing illustrations for your products, I’d love to design your packaging too – I’ve got lots of experience from my own product-based business!

Starting as original watercolour paintings drawn by hand, my nature-inspired products (including washi tapes, wooden decorations, greeting cards, art prints, desk pads and bags) are sold on my online retail shop and wholesale.

Plants Are Magic tote bag

I created a vector drawing featuring words and botanical illustrations to be screen-printed onto tote bags.

Botanical tissue paper and stickers

I created a digital drawing for packaging tissue paper and stickers to wrap my shop orders.

I'm always up for new challenges and collaborating on fun projects – feel free to reach out so we can discuss your vision!

I love supporting small businesses and nature-loving independents, so if you’re a plant shop, gift shop, garden centre or book/magazine publisher with a focus on nature, I’d love to hear from you.

For my mum's 60th birthday, I wanted to get her something really special. So I eventually decided on getting a piece of art, inspired by my late grandma. So I sent Katrina my short brief of what I wanted; birds of paradise flowers with a quote of a song my grandma would always sing of back home (Trinidad). Katrina took that small brief and turned it into something truly amazing. She sent me images of parts of the design as she worked, so I got to see the work build gradually. The best thing about working with Katrina was her professionalism, attention to detail and imagination. I know my mum and the rest of the family will truly treasure this piece of work forever.

Katrina is a joy to work with. The brief we discussed for our limited-edition greeting card for our #PlantPostClub was amazing, and the quality of the work outstanding.

I have had the privilege of working in collaboration with Katrina on a beautiful design that was turned into an embroidery piece. From first conversations with Katrina I knew she was a wonderful artist, she was so kind, encouraging and excited about the idea. She took a simple concept and turned it into something beautiful that everyone has loved! I only hope that we can work together again soon, she is a true delight.
