Private Commission – Dog portraits
Commisioning a painting from Katrina was a pleasure from our initial contact to receiving the finished product. She was able to give me options such as size and water color or pencil drawing that helped me decide what would work best for the project I was envisioning as well as my budget. As the process continued, she always responded to my emails in a timely manner and her tone was professional but also enthusiastic and warm. Katrina’s artistic talent is absolutely amazing. I was able to describe my vision and she used her design skills to take it to another level. I was completely comfortable with her judgement, but she also included me to ask my preferences. When the project was complete, Katrina had the perfect packaging to keep her original painting safe as it traveled to me across the Atlantic Ocean. The painting was so beautiful. I had it commissioned as a gift for my mom. It showed all of the 14 dogs she’s had in her lifetime. As soon as she opened it, my mom was stunned and said “how did she get the likeness just right?”. My dad was so impressed he asked if dogs were Katrina’s speciality because he was already thinking of another project (not dogs) he may like to have commissioned by her. I hope my family and I are able to work with her again.
Collaboration – Embroidery design
I have had the privilege of working in collaboration with Katrina on a beautiful design that was turned into an embroidery piece. From first conversations with Katrina I knew she was a wonderful artist, she was so kind, encouraging and excited about the idea. She took a simple concept and turned it into something beautiful that everyone has loved! I only hope that we can work together again soon, she is a true delight.

Illustration Work – Card design
Katrina is a joy to work with. The brief we discussed for our limited edition greeting card for our #PlantPostClub was amazing, the quality of the work outstanding.

Private Commission – Dog portraits for Christmas card design
“I reached out to Katrina to see if she can work on an original piece of art I wished to use for our holiday cards. They were of our dogs, two whom crossed the rainbow bridge and one who my husband and I adopted earlier this year. Every year we have a batch of holiday cards with our dogs but we never got to do one with Bartles, as he was only with us for a short 7 months until he passed. Instead of using an old picture of him, we thought to have all three of our dogs featured this year.
I knew that only Katrina would be able to capture their faces and the little details that made them uniquely them. And she did not disappoint. And every step through the whole process, Katrina kept in touch with progress and made sure I was content with how everything looked, even the angel halos and mistletoes and lettering. And while getting the expressions and details was important, working with a person who cares about the meaning of the card, something you can’t capture easily with a stroke of a brush, was important for me as well. Thank you so much, Katrina, for these very special holiday cards. They are by far our favorite.”
Private commission – Lettering & illustration
“For my mum’s 60th birthday, I wanted to get her something really special. So I eventually decided on getting a piece of art commissioned for her, inspired by my late grandmother. So I sent Katrina my short brief of what I wanted; birds of paradise flowers with a quote of a song my grandma would always sing of back home (Trinidad).
So Katrina took that small brief and turned it into something truly amazing. The detail of her work was amazing, the texture of the flowers jumped right off the page. She sent me images of parts of the design as she worked, so I got to see the work build gradually. I only had to give her two feedback messages (which were so minor).
The best thing about working Katrina was her professionalism, attention to detail and imagination. We have very few photos of my grandma. And I know my mum and the rest of the family will truly treasure this piece of work forever.”
