It wasn’t until recently I finally got more storage for my new studio, had a big tidy up and all my materials are now stored away safely. My studio is a studio! I am so thrilled to have a lovely space to run my business and paint beautiful things.
I have two tables: one as a general desk and one as a painting table for bigger, messier painting jobs. As I paint from images (or still life), I have an old laptop to use on my painting table. I love that trusty chair my mum gave me when I had my studio shed, which I miss a lot (apart from spiders that wouldn’t leave!).
The painting below is my portrait painted by my big sister. We agreed to paint each other for our 25th birthday presents. Here is what I painted for her.
I love that my painting table is a drop-leaf table so I can put it “away” when I am not painting. I really need to get it a table cover as it is very old – it used to belong to my grandma I think and I was given it by my mum. Since it is becoming my favourite table in the whole world, I really should start looking after it.
I aim to fill my studio with indoor plants and these two babies are just a starting point. I have several downstairs in the living room/ dining room and kitchen already.
I am still figuring out where my things go in these two shelves. There are spaces for more and I plan to fill them with my poor old cameras (I have about 12) that has been left in the box since I moved in last March. I only have my two most used cameras out. The books need to be reorganised too. If there is still enough space, I’d love to take my unused notebooks out of my drawers so I’ll remember to use them rather than buying more.
I am excited that there is plenty of wall space so I can put up a lot of artwork (I already have quite lots waiting to be hung up!) and making my space even more beautiful.
Do you have a studio? Show me!
The new studio looks great! That’s so cool that the table used to belong to your grandmother, it’s like a little piece of family history :) I saw you have the blogging for dummies and web design for dummies books on your shelves– would you say they’re worth a read?

Thank you! I wouldn’t say they are the best, there are better advice books out there. But they were quite useful when I was starting out. I am thinking to get rid of them in fact!
Oh goodness, I love your studio! I can’t wait until I move and I can have a work space of my own!
Oo how exciting. I am glad you love my studio, I love it too!
looks great. and so much light. I’m still dreaming about a space like that :)
Thank you! I love how much light I get, I can see what I paint so much better now :)
Oh, your studio is gorgeous! I’m loving all the light and the wooden furniture are beautiful! I don’t own a studio, unfortunately. The closest thing I have to one (ie a place where I work) is my room. In bed; I write!

Thank you May! I hope you get a studio one day, it is really amazing to have your own dedicated space.
it looks so lovely (and light!) :)
Thank you, Laura! I love how bright my studio is, going in a light studio first thing in the morning is really good for me, mentally as it makes me excited to start painting as soon as possible.
Oh looks like you can fit lots of stuff in and lots of pretty light – my two top wants for a studio! I loved seeing the two paintings you guys did for each other too – so awesome :)
Yes, it is huge! Bigger than our bedroom. Since my studio is an only room (apart from kitchen and dining room) that has wooden floor! We are only renting and don’t want to take the risk ruining the carpet.
My sister and I plan to paint each other again for our 30th! :)
It looks like it’s coming together rather nicely and I love the paintings you and your sister did of each other
Thank you so much! My sister and I plan to paint each other again for our 30th! :)
You look like you’ve created a really nice working environment. Nice post, Kat.
